Rowing Gig Taster – 4 May + presentation 26 April

News from SWFYC rowing section

The taster rowing sessions hosted by SWFYC rowing section will take place on Saturday 4 May. (High water 13.41)

The gigs will be brought over to URYC approximately 2 hours before high water. They will take two novices at a time, (or three if one wants to sit in the pilot seat and is willing to swap around whilst out).

Presentation at URYC on Friday 26 April

Steve and Louise are coordinating the Gig Taster and are coming along the our club on Friday 26 April at 8.00 pm to offer full details, explain how the day will be organised and answer your questions.

This is the deadline date to register to take part.

Why not come along to this presentation, the bar is open as usual and even if you are undecided about taking part, its your opportunity to put your name forward if you ‘fancy a go in a gig’.                                                    Thanks, Dennis

Fancy a go in a gig?

If the date and times suit, please send an email to info@upriver.org.uk to confirm your definite interest and/or add your name to the list now displayed on the club notice board.

This will allow us to firm up numbers and then SWFYC can put things in place to make sure everyone gets a good shot at it.

On the day

SWFYC’s Steve Wood (0798 396 3276) is your contact point for this event. If you have any questions about the day and cannot come to the presentation on 26 April, please call Steve.

Before getting on the water there will be a quick familiarisation on land. Then Steve will coordinate a ’round robin’ so even if a lot of URYC members want a go, he will ensure everyone has the opportunity to try gig rowing.

Doug and Sue from Woodham are down to help. Steve and his wife Louise, who is SWFYC secretary and is also one of SWFYC’s more experienced Gig rowing coxswains, will be the principle organisers on the day.

Deadline

Please confirm your definite interest by 26 April so I can ensure a proper hand over to Steve and Louise. This is essential as unfortunately I will be away sailing when the gig rowing takes place so cannot take part personally.

Thanks

Dennis
