Donations

Up River Yacht Club is a not-for-profit self help club. This enables yacht club membership to be offered at the lowest possible cost making sailing accessible to the wider community.

The Club is heavily dependent upon the good will of its membership to volunteer to help run and maintain the Club. Plus for support from local people and businesses to help the club raise funds. This enables the Club to offer a low cost sail training programme to Cadets. This programme is heavily subsidised in terms of members time and club resources including the provision of professional instructors.

Up River YC has been the grateful recipient of occasional donations over the years which helps us significantly to achieve more for our club members and the local community alike.

Some examples:

  • The Anchor at Hullbridge has donated vouchers for evening meals for 4 people that we offer as our top raffle prize at the annual Hullbridge Regatta
  • Gill and Chris Bridgewater of Benfleet donated a Lightning class sailing dinghy. This boat been added to our training fleet and will benefit Cadets progressing to dinghy racing
  • Members donate wet suits and safety equipment to be ‘recycled’ for new members and especially children to get afloat without parents having to pay out for new equipment

If you as an individual, or a company, would like to contribute to Up River Yacht Club through making a donation, we would be very please to hear from you.

Up River Yacht Club will pledge to use the benefit of your donation to support our sail training programme and for outreach to the surrounding community to allow people – particularly children and young adults – to experience safe sailing on the River Crouch.
