Cruiser Rallies This year, our published club cruising programme is coordinated by our Cruiser Class Captain Graham. Email grahamlazell@hotmail.com
In addition to the published programme John LS email johnls123@hotmail.co.uk is taking a lead role this year with a series of local rallies and mini cruises. These are aimed specifically at members who would like a local trip in company and to enable boat owners new to cruising to build their experience. Also, there are a number of crew places for dinghy sailors to join in the fun.
Dates for your diary:
July 14th River Roach and back – depart URYC 8am, sail to River Roach, anchor for lunch – back at about 6pm. Coordinator John LS.
July 18th – 25th Summer Cruise – to explore the beautiful River Deben, then on to Walton Backwaters and Suffolk Yacht Harbour before returning on the 25th. Coordinator Graham L.
August 1st – 2nd – Overnight in Yolksfleet. Leave about 10 am on Saturday 1st, seal watching and overnight in Yolksfleet Creek, back at about midday on Sunday 2nd. Coordinator John LS.
August 8th – 9th – Osea Island BBQ and start of Family Cruise Week to the River Blackwater ends Saturday 15 August – see details in the Club Booklet. Coordinator Graham L.
August 15th – 16th – Cliff Reach BBQ overnighter. Leave at about 10.30am on Saturday, returning midday on Sunday. Coordinator John LS.
August 27th – 28th – Clacton Airshow Rally – see details in the Club Booklet. Coordinator Graham L.
September 5th – 6th – Brightlingsea Rally – see details in the Club Booklet. Coordinator Graham L.
September 12 or 13th (depends on the weather) – trip out of the Crouch. Leave at 8am, anchor for lunch, back by 7pm. Coordinator John LS.
September 27th or 28th – Overnighter with BBQ. Details to follow nearer the time as this trip is weather dependent. Coordinator John LS.
TBA – potentially a further mini-rally subject to fine weather, details nearer the time. Coordinator John LS.
October !7th – !8th – Bradwell Rally, last of the scheduled trips this year – see details in the Club Booklet. Coordinator Graham L.
Phew! Quite a programme
Any questions please speak to the rally coordinator. Hopefully there is something for everyone. We may have launched late this year, but we are determined to make up for lost time!
One or two trips may be postponed due to weather conditions. Our local rallies and mini cruises are for fun, its not a competition and our experienced members will be looking out for those new to cruiser sailing.
